What a startling beautiful video. We should never forget our ancestors, these women who have fought so hard for us. Ghosts now, along side us, still whispering, shouting, urging us on.

A message for Sarah Palin.

Watch. Share.

Although it angers me to see that dumb-shit smile on her face, I kind of love when CNN post pictures like that of Palin next to articles like this: {Palin blasts Obama for his views on abortion}. Women should look especially hard at how SHE views this issue. I mean, we already know that she put her own views ahead of her daughter's happiness, so I doubt the average American woman's right to privacy over her own body will mean much to Sarah Palin.

Not to mention:

From {http://edition.cnn.com}

"The notion that legitimate criticism of Sen. Obama's record and positions could be compared to Gov. George Wallace, his segregationist policies and the violence he provoked is unacceptable and has no place in this campaign. I am saddened that John Lewis, a man I've always admired, would make such a brazen and baseless attack on my character and the character of the thousands of hardworking Americans who come to our events to cheer for the kind of reform that will put America on the right track. I call on Sen. Obama to immediately and personally repudiate these outrageous and divisive comments that are so clearly designed to shut down debate 24 days before the election. Our country must return to the important debate about the path forward for America."

Shortly after, Obama campaign spokesman Bill Burton released a statement on the Lewis comments.

"Sen. Obama does not believe that John McCain or his policy criticism is in any way comparable to George Wallace or his segregationist policies," Burton said. "But John Lewis was right to condemn some of the hateful rhetoric that John McCain himself personally rebuked just last night, as well as the baseless and profoundly irresponsible charges from his own running mate that the Democratic nominee for president of the United States 'pals around with terrorists.' "

THAT IS RIGHT! Because, my God, people were shouting "KILL HIM" in the Republican rallies, and that scares the living shit right out of me. How is listening without comment, and therefore, IMO, condoning those sentiments, "legitimate criticism"? Has McCain completely lost his mind?

Another thing.

Why is Sarah Palin so intent on protecting unborn children even to the point of denying abortion to victims of incest and rape, but every other day, I see a new photograph of her smiling over a dying moose that is covered with blood? I mean, seriously?

I can't stand Elisabeth Hasselbeck. I can't. Can't can't can't can't can't can't can't

You have to watch this to believe it. If she ever tells ME to fucking "relax" ... oh my god.

Made by Leonardo DiCaprio. This is so cool. It's so Tiny Fey.*.

We want elite pilots to fly our planes, elite troops to undertake our most critical missions, elite athletes to represent us in competition and elite scientists to devote the most productive years of their lives to curing our diseases. And yet, when it comes time to vest people with even greater responsibilities, we consider it a virtue to shun any and all standards of excellence. When it comes to choosing the people whose thoughts and actions will decide the fates of millions, then we suddenly want someone just like us, someone fit to have a beer with, someone down-to-earth—in fact, almost anyone, provided that he or she doesn't seem too intelligent or well educated.

The world is growing more complex—and dangerous—with each passing hour, and our position within it growing more precarious. Should she become president, Palin seems capable of enacting policies so detached from the common interests of humanity, and from empirical reality, as to unite the entire world against us.

From this, a fantastic, fantastic article on Sarah Palin and the anti-elitism that permeates the election. Wise words, and I urge everyone to read it -- wonderful, intelligent and spot-on thoughts.

From {Facebook group: 1,000,000 Strong Against Sarah Palin}.

I urge you to read this, think about it and re-post it. Everyone in the world should know what she thinks, believes and how she acts.

Sarah Palin's Resume )

If even part of that doesn't make you shudder with horror, I fear not only for the United States, but for my country, and other countries, and for our children-- what kind of world are we building for them? Really?

At least, I know that in Canada, if in the future, my hypothetical ten-year-old daughter were to be raped and become pregnant, I could get her a safe and legal abortion. Will American women be able to say the same?

This is very awesome

[livejournal.com profile] a2zmom on partial-birth abortions and the right wing crazies who would have you believe that women use them for "convenience".

As I said in my comments, what's even sadder than the ignorance? Is the fact that the Republican party DEPEND on that ignorance to push their sick, woman-hating agenda.
hellowonderland: (veronica // holy fuck)
Let it be known: I wish Elisabeth Hasselbeck would leave the TV forever.

Anyone with me on this? Just google her and find out all the horror. She is the worst type of person. She is so fucking ignorant and stupid, but she thinks she's smart. Not to mention, she thinks Palin is "outstanding" and ohhh wow, she "has so much more experience than Obama." I could just see Joy Behar and Whoopi Goldberg seething beside her.

She actually said that since the "majority" of Americans are Christian, the President should be allowed to blend Church and State as much as they please. I mean, who cares about the fact that your country is supposed to welcome and nurture people of all races, religions, genders, sexual preferences. WHATEVER.

I don't know how they stand her. She's like a female Bill O'Reilly.

And people are actually voting for her.

Don't kid yourself. If you vote for McCain, you are voting for Palin. She will step in and be President if something happens to "Maverick".

Just... good Christ. This can't happen. This person cannot be in charge.
