Holding my breath.

Yes we can.

PS: I am going to post something completely unrelated to the election soon. Yes indeed! (I am)

[livejournal.com profile] carlyinrome and [livejournal.com profile] chrisleeoctaves both tagged me to do this, so here goes.

Sometimes it's ok to pimp yourself out. Post a list of your top five fic-favorites you've written, regardless of fandom or the reason you love them. This isn't about the BEST things you've written, but what you LOVE most. Then tag five other people to do the same.

In no particular order.

1. {The Legend of the Other Veronica} - Veronica Mars
I have no idea why I love this so much. No one read it. It strays dangerously close to melodrama territory. It's also the last VM fic I wrote. But I suppose what interested me was the notion of all the skins Veronica had slipped in and out of, all of the girls she had been, from sweet pink innocent to spunky bad girl, from Duncan's first love to Logan's last, from Lilly's best friend to Wallace's girl, to hell and back, through fires and floods, and she always managed to shed a flesh, step out of her body, step back in. I loved that. I loved exploring the many sides to her. Plus, Anne Sexton, angsty Logan, skinny dipping and some gross poetry. It all ends up to bliss.

2. {Wintering} - Buffy the Vampire Slayer/Angel
Having spent a long time on this fic, I believe I can be forgiven for how much I still love it. Fresh from Promise Me This, my epic Season 7 rewrite, I felt sexual pangs every time I thought about Buffy/Wesley, ha. So I set out to write a love story told through postcards (MAGIC POSTCARDS!), in order to deny myself any sort of physical consummation. I love this because of the wintry images, the Snow Queen, the surprise sexual affair, the oily peanut butter and the fridge that leaks rusty water. I love this because Giles is so tired, and the girls are so blind, and Buffy sits in her attic like Rapunzel, waiting. I love Dawn as the little ghost at the door, and Xander as the bitter king of broken dreams, and Wesley as the older man, the wiser man, and Angel as the knight stepping aside. I just love this, still do and always will.

3. {The Sorrows of Joesphine Potter} - Dawson's Creek
Ok, so I have a soft spot for Pacey/Joey. The pairing that divided a fandom, that was never supposed to go as far as it did, and that even Kevin Williamson eventually had to bow down to in the series finale. A pairing that Joshua Jackson lobbied for on David Letterman! So great, so great. This is the only Pacey/Joey story I've ever written, and I love it to pieces. Mainly because of the water imagery, and the stricken sullen hurt Joey, and the raging bitter sexy Pacey. Dawson, lingering. Jen, a star reflected in the ocean. Capeside, rising up to claim them. I love how even though Joey can't let go, it is Pacey who is still caught in the snare. No one read this, but I still love it.

4. {For Him, while Dreaming} - Buffy the Vampire Slayer
I picked this because it broke my heart to write. I've had pieces of the story scattered around for months, little bits of grief and little bits of memory. But they came together when I needed a background for a tale of Buffy lying over Angel's grave. I love this because for once I felt like the writing lived up to the idea. I love this because of the perfect cross-shaped hole. I love this because of Buffy's broken body and the way she dug an empty hole, mirroring Los Angeles, and I love this because we never got to see the extent of Buffy's love but I felt like I really got her here, the her that I knew, the her that I felt a lot of B/A OTPers knew. In the end, she lived and died because of the world, but no one would ever know the secrets of her heart.

5. {The Red Deeps} - Buffy the Vampire Slayer/Veronica Mars
I am in love with this tale, and will finish it. Buffy/Veronica is one of my alltime favourite pairings. Oh the implications of these two girls coming together, the exquisite pain of it all! The reason I love this story though, is the ideas behind it. The vast world I have sketched out. The characters and the insular little city, and wartime Dawn, the disappeared friends, Giles in Wales - anguished and writing, the endless snow, Spike sending letters and poetry, the blood countess, the violent and hot longing between Veronica and Buffy. It was a toss up between this and By the Rivers Dark, but ultimately I chose this because I just love it more. Plain and simple.

So.
